EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM
This Act alters the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 to reduce the age qualification for the Office of the President and membership of the House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly.

CONSTRUCTION OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, 1999 (FOURTH ALTERATION NO. 27) ACT 2017
An Act to alter the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 to reduce the age for qualification for the Office of the President, membership of the House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly; and for related matters.

ENACTED by the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria –
1. The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (in this Act referred “the Principal Act”) is altered as set out in this Act.
2. Section 65(1)(b) of the Principal Act is altered by substituting for the word, “thirty”, in line 2, the word “twenty-five”.
3. Section 106(b) of the Principal Act is altered by substituting for the word, “Thirty”, the words, “Twenty-five”.
4. Section 131 (b) of the Principal Act is altered by substituting for the word, “forty”, the words, “thirty-five”.
5. This Act may be cited as Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (Fourth Alteration, No. 27) Act, 2017.
