EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM
This Act [which is now repealed but which was amended by the National Minimum Wage 2000 and the National Minimum Wage 2011] prescribed a national minimum wage for workers and for other matters connected therewith. It was repealed by the National Minimum Wage Act, 2019.

NATIONAL MINIMUM WAGE ACT
An Act to prescribe a national minimum wage for workers and for other matters connected therewith.

- Employer to pay minimum wage
1) As from the commencement of this Act, it shall be the duty of every employer (except as provided for under this Act) to pay a wage not less than a national minimum wage of N5,500 per month to every worker under his establishment
