These Regulations seeks to prevent the decline, minimize the modification and destruction of ecosystem, economy and human health caused by Alien and Invasive Species (in these Regulations referred to as ‘Species’) by:
(a) regulating the raising, planting, storing, carrying, importing, or any other handling of the species;
(b) taking measures, such as mitigation, with the aim of stabilizing and improving national life through contributions to conservation of biodiversity, human safety and sound development of agriculture, forestry and fisheries;
(c) developing a national database for the proactive management of fauna and flora of the species for the mitigation of existing invasions and the prevention of future occurrences;
(d) facilitating the integration of regional and global initiatives on trans boundary movement of the species within the overall national framework; and
(e) building capacity and skills for the species management.
