SEC DG SUSPENDED BY FINANCE MINISTER NOW RECOMMENDED FOR SACK BY PANEL LED BY PERM-SEC OF FINANCE MINISTRY

An Administrative Panel of Inquiry,  set up in November, 2017 to investigate allegations of corrupt practices against the suspended Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Mr. Mounir Gwarzo, has submitted its findings and recommendations.

 

Among others, the Panel which was headed by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mahmoud Isa-Dutse, and set up by the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun recommended that the SEC DG be removed from public service. In addition, the committee also recommended that the embattled  suspended DG refund the sum of N104.85m, which he allegedly approved and received as severance package while still in office. Additionally, Gwarzo could be facing operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission for further investigation of the allegation of using his position as SEC DG to influence the award of contracts to Outbound Investments Limited.
