In July, 2017, President Muhammad Buhari signed the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement during the 12th extraordinary session of the African Union on AfCFTA and the first mid-year coordination meeting of the African Union (AU) and the regional economic communities (RECs) in Niamey, Niger Republic. AfCFTA opens Nigeria’s huge market to the rest of the continent within the AfCFTA framework and also opens the rest of the continent to Nigeria to boldly compete as a power house.
