OYO-ITA, HEAD OF SERVICE OF THE FEDERATION, AXED

Winifred Oyo-Ita, the Head of Service of the Federation (Nigeria’s top civil servant) was on Wednesday, 18th September, 2019 removed from office. In her place, Dr Folashade Yemi-Esan was appointed as Acting Head of Service.

Her removal, followed the pattern of the immediate past Chief Justice of the Federation, as it followed an investigation of an anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial crimes Commission, EFCC for corruption.

She had been undergoing an EFCC probe for alleged contract scam and complicity regarding project cash of over N600 million which was allegedly kept away by her aide. Oyo-Ita had reportedly denied all the allegation.

Accordingly to reports, she was asked by the Presidency to proceed on indefinite leave to allow for the conclusion of the investigation being carried out against her by the EFCC.
