PUBLIC COLLECTIONS (REGULATION) LAW
A LAW TO PROVIDE FOR THE REGULATION OF PUBLIC COLLECTIONS OF MONEY OR IN KIND AND FOR CONNECTED PURPOSES [Commencement]
1. Public Appeals for Donations in Money or in Kind Restricted
(1) Subject to the provisions of this Law, it is unlawful to make any appeal for public collections for any object except where such public collection not been registered in accordance with the provisions of section 4.
(2) A payment of money in exchange for a token or any article of token value only or for any article or benefit the value of which is substantially less than the value of such payment will be deemed to be a donation for the purposes of this section.
(3) In any proceedings arising out of an appeal for donations to two (2) or more members of the public the burden of proving that it was not an appeal to the public within the meaning of this section will be upon the defendant in such proceedings.
