REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGES LAW

A LAW TO MAKE PROVISION FOR THE CUSTODY OF REGISTERS AND RECORDS RELATING TO MARRIAGES IN LAGOS STATE FOR CONNECTED PURPOSES

[Commencement]   [25th October, 1917]

1.      Alphabetical indexes of Registers to be made

(1)     The Principal Registrar in the State shall cause to be prepared at the commencement of each year alphabetic indexes showing all marriages registered during the preceding year.

(2)     The indexes shall be in

(a)     prescribed form and manner as the Commissioner may require;

(b)     be preserved as records in the office of the Registrar.

(3)     Every registrar must furnish to the Principal Registrar such returns and in such form as the Principal Registrar may require.
