EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM

This Act seeks to amend the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act No. 11 of 1993 by limiting the tenure of Principal officers to a single term of five years, increase the retiring age of academic staff in the Professional cadre and non-academic staff in the Universities.

[EDITOR’S NOTE: This Act amends the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Act 1993 which was earlier amended by the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Act 2003]
