This Act is to enable effect to be given in the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade

TREATY TO ESTABLISH ROTTERDAM CONVENTION ON THE PRIOR INFORMED CONSENT PROCEDURE FOR CERTAIN HAZARDOUS CHEMICALS AND PESTICIDES IN INTERNA TIONAL TRADE (RATIFICATION AND ENFORCEMENT) ACT (2005 ACT NO. 17)

An Act to enable effect to be given in the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade.

WHEREAS the Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade was adopted by the Member States of the United Nations on the 10th September, 1998;

AND WHEREAS the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has by a decision duly reached in accordance with her constitutional process ratified the said Rotterdam Convention;

AND WHEREAS it is necessary and expedient to enact a law to enable effect to be given to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade in the Federal Republic of Nigeria:

Now THEREFORE IT Is:

ENACTED by the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria-
