LAWS OF THE FEDERATION OF NIGERIA
PUBLIC ORDER ACT
___________________________
[NOTE: This law presently stands voided by virtue of an Appeal Court ruling on the 10th of December, 2007 which disagreed with the Attorney General’s attempt to overturn an earlier ruling to the same effect by Justice Anwuri Chikere of the Federal High Court, Abuja. In the words of the Appeal Court: “the provisions of the Public Order Act are unnecessary, we are in [a] democracy and Nigeria has joined the league of civilised society.”
Lead counsel for the plaintiffs/respondents was Femi Falana. The Appeal Court Panel members included Justices Olofunmilola Adekeye, Danlamin Muhammad, and O. F. Omoleye.]
