EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM

This Act amends the Veterinary Surgeons Act Cap. V3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 to reduce the membership of the Veterinary Council.

VETERINARY SURGEONS (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2016

An Act to amend the Veterinary Surgeons Act Cap. V3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 to reduce the membership of the Veterinary Council; and for related matter.

[Commencement] [3RD FEBRUARY, 2017]            

ENACTED by the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria—

Amendment of Cap. V3, LFN, 2004.

1.       The Veterinary Surgeons Act Cap. V3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 (in this Act referred to as “the Principal Act”) is amended as set out in this Act.

Amendment of section 2 (1)

2.       Section 2 (1) of the Principal Act is amended by—

          (a)     deleting paragraph (e); and

          (b)     re-numbering the paragraph appropriately.

Amendment of section 15 (4).

3.       Section 15 (4) of the Principal Act is amended by substituting for the expression, “N1, 000”, the expression, “N100,000”,

Citation.

4.       This Act may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons (Amendment) Act, 2016.
