LIMITATION LAW
A LAW TO MAKE PROVISION FOR THE LIMITATION OF ACTIONS AND ARBITRATIONS
[Commencement] [31st December 1966]
PART 1 – PRELIMINARY AND GENERAL
1. Application to the State
(1) Save as in this Law otherwise expressly provided and without prejudice to section 4, this Law will apply to proceedings by or against a State authority in like manner as if that State authority were a private individual.
(2) This Law shall not apply to –
(a) any proceedings for the recovery of any sum due;
(3) in respect of a tax which is for the time being under the care and management of the Federal Board of Inland Revenue, or the Lagos State Internal Revenue Board; or

(a) in respect of a duty which is for the time being under the control and management of the Board of Customs and Excise, or interest thereon; or
(b) any proceedings for the recovery of any fine or penalty incurred in connection with any such tax or duty; or
(c) any forfeiture proceedings under the customs laws or the excise laws as defined in the customs and Excise Management Act; or

(d) any proceedings in respect of the forfeiture of a ship or of an interest in a ship under the Merchant Shipping Act; or
